There is something warm and satisfying about a sizzling steaming plate of vegetables. I have been a sizzler addict for as long as I can remember. The origin of the sizzler if probably from the Teppanyaki sizzling dishes cooked in Japan and that would probably explain why popular sizzler joints have names such as Yoko and Kobe. Mumbai’s affair with sizzlers goes back to a 1970’s to place called Touche. My mum swears by the place even now and says its the best sizzler that she has ever had.
We have put together a list of places that we think serve the best sizzlers in Mumbai and Pune.
Mumbai
1. Yokos: A personal favorite. They have wide variety to choose from for the veggies as well as the meat lovers. Sea food lovers need not despair, you can choose from the prawns and the fish. We recommend the Chicken Sizzler in garlic sauce. It comes loaded with beans, cauliflower, carrots, spinach a generous portion of fries and a nice juicy chunk of chicken.
They have branches in Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Lucknow, Baroda, Nagpur, Surat, Pune. Also, Doha and Dubai!
2. Fountain Sizzlers: Located in the busy office district of Fort Mumbai, the place is abuzz with lawyers, bankers and office goers. They serve a mean Teppanyaki sizzler as well as a Paneer Shashlik. The service is quick and swift. And don’t forget to try the sizzling brownie with ice cream

Pune:
The Place: Touche: The Touche from Bombay moved to Pune and has been around for the last 35-40 years. It is somewhat of a legend in Sizzlers. Had been to this place about 10 years ago when I was in Pune for work and the taste of the chicken sizzler has lingered on.
