Sangria-Halloween Cocktail

Smack dab in the middle of our festive season, between Dussera and Diwali, a slightly more spooky excuse to party is coming up tonight. Whether you plan to dress up as a superhero or a monster or nothing at all, here’s something you can definitely do to spice up a Halloween party. Try out this recipe for a deliciously deadly Halloween cocktail.

An old favorite, Sangria is perfect for Halloween. Not only is the name Sangria based on the Spanish word for blood, this version of the concoction packs a bloody punch.

Blood Red Sangria

Ingredients

1 Bottle of Red Wine
600 ml Dark Rum (we love Old Monk but use anything you like)
200 ml Orange juice
100 ml Freshly squeezed lemon juice
Sweetener of your choice, to taste (you could use simple syrup, honey, maple syrup - 1 or 2 tbs should do it but you go by what you like the taste of)
2 oranges, sliced
2-3 lemons, sliced
For a spooky, looking garnish, pop in some lychees or some peeled grapes. They’ll bob around in your punch like floating eyeballs.

Directions

Pour all the ingredients into a large glass bowl or jug and stir. Add the fruit and refrigerate the drink for a few hours or even overnight.

Don’t drink and drive! Happy Halloween!
